The BYOT Yellow Belt
In 2012, I began experimenting with BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology) in my middle school classroom. I wanted my students to use the technology in their pockets (Ipod Touch, Iphone, cell phone) or the stuff they have at home (Ipad, Android tablet, Surface) to extend their learning. I didn't have a great idea of what it would I do. I just knew that it needed to happen. I outline the perils of this venture here.
In 2013, I jumped in head first and began blogging about my experiences. I hope that as you read the posts here, you get the feel of a learner who is just getting started. I call myself a yellow belt. Both in attachment and in BYOT, I am just starting out. Those who are interested in these ideas may feel comfortable here as there is no pretense. How can there be? I am just trying things out and sharing how it went.
